On the next Modern Notebook: tune in for solo piano music by Billy Childs titled “Pursuit,” which is partly inspired by Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit, and is also meant to evoke the feelings of being pursued.

And a work by Jen Baker titled Lightsicle Sirens, which was recorded in an outdoor parking garage last year in the midst of the pandemic.

Plus: works by Peter van Zandt Lane, Lei Liang, Nina Simone, inti figgis-vizueta, Kate Moore, and others; and performances by Aizuri Quartet, pianist Inna Faliks, Wavefield Ensemble, violinist Patrick Yim, and more.

Join Tyler Kline for the next Modern Notebook: Sunday night from 8 to 10 on Classical WSMR 89.1 and 103.9.
