On the next Modern Notebook, Tyler Kline shares Emily Koh’s Memento Mori, a work for violin, double bass, and percussion ensemble that blends the two solo parts into a singular “superbass” instrument.
We’ll also hear the Piano Concerto No. 2 by Magnus Lindberg, which – at its core – is a work that draws inspiration from Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, and echoes the colors of Messiaen.
Plus: performances by the Catalyst Quartet, pianist Yefim Bronfman, the group What is Noise, and violinist Benjamin Sung with pianist Jihye Chang; and music by Jessie Montgomery, Huang Ruo, Ken Ueno, and more.
That’s on the next Modern Notebook, Sunday night from 8 to 10 on Classical WSMR 89.1 and 103.9.
