Coming up on this week’s Modern Notebook: a piece by Lansing McLoskey for saxophone quartet called OK-OK, a work comprised solely of a recontextualized version of Charlie Parker’s solo from the be-bop classic Ko-Ko. Plus, a collection of solo piano music by Libby Larsen called White Pieces, inspired in part by creatives like TS Eliot, Hilda Doolittle, and JP Richardson. Featuring performances by The Frost Saxophone Quartet, flutist Tammy Evans Yonce, the New York Philharmonic, Sandbox Percussion, and others.
